As many experienced conservation practitioners and professionals will know, accurately recording existing historic fabric can be one of the most important parts of any project of stone conservation. Failure to carry out this process properly can result in unintentional alterations to the design from repair. This in turn creates an improper record of the building for future generations.
At Cook Masonry we have the skills and experience to accurately replicate the original designs of even the most complex building façades. The ecclesiastical background of a large proportion of our workforce means that we specialise in the type of complex ecclesiastical projects that many companies will be reluctant to undertake.
We are able to provide drawings or casts of fine architectural details as a template for the production of replacement stonework. Alternatively, some customers have chosen to commission casts and drawings to be stored as a reference for future generations.
